Luci4's cause of death has been revealed two months after his death.

According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, the rapper, born James Dear, died as a result of fentanyl toxicity. His manner of death was listed as accidental.

TMZpreviously reported, citing his grandparents, that Dear died at a friend's house on Sunday, Feb. 22. The musician, also known as Axxturel, was declared dead upon the Los Angeles Fire Department's arrival around 11:40 a.m., per the outlet.

His death was confirmed by his manager, Kayla G., in a Feb. 22TikTok, in which she wrote, “I am devastated to inform you that today, James, Luci4, Axxturel has passed away. He was truly a leader a king and a musician and a genius.”

“There’s nobody like him and there will never be. We all loved him dearly. Rest Easy,” she continued. “Please allow family and friends privacy and patience during this difficult time."

The artist made waves in the sigilkore scene, a microgenre within trap music that combines electronic and cloud rap.

According toBillboard, Luci4 signed a deal with Atlantic Records after his song “Bodypartz” went viral. The song was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America in 2024.
