ABC has renewed The Bachelor for a 30th season.
Key Points
-
As of this writing, a Bachelor has yet to be chosen.
-
It's slated to premiere in early 2027.
The Bachelorfranchise is in disarray.
In March 2026, just days before the premiere of a newBacheloretteseason led bySecret Lives of Mormon Wivesstar Taylor Frankie Paul, ABCscrapped the seasonamid allegations of domestic abuse against Paul. (In April, the Salt Lake City District Attorney's Officedeclined to file charges against the reality star.)
It was an unprecedented move by the network, casting a dark shadow across a franchise that's long presented itself as a fairy tale. It didn't help, either, that season 4 ofMormon Wives, which debuted in March, showed Paul sleeping with her ex, Dakota Mortensen, before leaving to filmThe Bachelorette, casting doubt on her desire to find a long-term partner on the show.
Has the world simply grown too cynical for a show as featherlight asThe Bachelor? Reports of falling ratings havepercolated for years, and theLos Angeles Timesreported in March 2025 that season 29 was down nearly a million viewers from season 28.
Well, ABC isn't throwing in the towel just yet.
"The Bachelorfranchise is not going anywhere," said Rob Mills, executive vice president of unscripted at Walt Disney Television, in an April chat withThe Hollywood Reporter. He also confirmed that bothThe Bachelorand spinoffBachelor in Paradisewould return in 2027.
